Floating Single Stringer Staircase
LOCATION: Queens, NY
DESIGN: 2 Glass Staircases and a Concierge desk
Serett was approached by the architect to fabricate 2 glass staircases and a Brass Concierge Desk to be used in the lobby at a new apartment complex at Jackson Ave.
Our main objective was to creating a floating staircase with solid 4 inch maple slab steps for longevity. The staircase consists of 1/2 inch tempered glass, which returns across the balcony at both landings. Stainless steel was used for the glass connection points and the handrail. The single stringer used to support the structure was blackened steel with a wax over poly finish
To get 4 inch slabs thickness we decided to sandwich 2 2-inch slabs together for budget and artistic reasons.
